After an amazing and creative 18 months, the Scottish designer Jonathan Saunders
will be stepping down from his role as chief creative officer at Diane von
Furstenberg. , effective immediately, according to Business of Fashion. In mid 2016
he joined Diane as being a part of the creative brains by quickly putting his stamp
on the already stylish brand. He brought old heritage to the table, by mixing
refreshing fabrications and silhouettes of clothes with an updated twist. However,
you can’t take the Diane out of von Furstenberg, so keeping the niche of DVF
without changing too much, he mixed his stamp of bold colours and whimsical
prints, which gave an updated approach to some of the designers signature pieces.
His job role entailed of being responsible for all product categories, as well as store
design, Web design, and marketing.
Speaking about the resignation, Saunders said in a statement "I am grateful for
Diane's support and for the opportunity of guiding this iconic brand. I am so proud
of everything we have accomplished in the past 18 months. I thank the incredible
team for their dedication and support, and will continue to be a friend and admirer
of the brand".
His changes from a traditional runway show changed to going to more low key
presentations during NYFW and they were shows worth talking about. Did you
notice the revamp of the DVF logo? That was all down to Jonathan as well.
“I am so thankful for Jonathan’s beautiful work and the effort and dedication he has
put into DVF in the last 18 months. He will leave an important and lasting heritage
to the brand,” Diane von Furstenberg said in a statement.
The question that is on all of ours minds is who will take the reins at DVF? The
anticipation continues…
