Nike x Off-White

Off-White designer Virgil Abloh recreated 10 iconic Nike sneakers. 'The Ten' titled collection will include Nike's iconic shoe styles like Air Jordan I, Air Max 90, Air Force 1 Low, Converse Chuck Taylor and many more.

"What we're talking about here is larger than sneakers, it's larger than design culture. These 10 shoes have broken barriers in performance and style. To me, they are on the same level as a sculpture of David or the Mona Lisa. You can debate it all you want, but they mean something. And that's what's important." says Virgil Abloh on his new collection for Nike.

Separated into two categories named 'Revealing' and 'Ghosting' the designs will feature classical and futuristic themes. With pointing out the obvious, the ten shoe designs are creating a designed irony. Pre-releasing in New York (9-13 September), London (18-22 September), Milan (21-25 September), Paris (26-30 September) in NikeLab stores the official launch of the collection will be in November.

The hype for Nike x Off-White was created long before the official announcement was made. Virgil Abloh gave shoes from the collection exclusively to some of his friends including Bella Hadid who wore it in an outing that created a huge sensation. Abloh also wore one of the sneakers to the Met Gala event which partly confirmed this collaboration. Check out the first images from the collaboration to decide whether you like the irony of the designs.
