New York Fashion Week Trends

Urbanism at its finest, city of lights, whatever you call New York it is truly a special state of mind. With sharp tailoring and futuristic elements New York is a stand out among the fashion weeks. Although the urban city is known for its clean cuts and smart tailoring, this season New York surprised us with romantic elements. Eighties and nineties were the major influences of Fall Winter 2018 collections in New York. Pop Art, Studio 54, oversized shoulders and shiny fabrics… Everything that is throwback was used by designers.

Some recurring trends had an upgrade for Fall Winter, like the never disappearing trend of fashion; animal prints had a maximalist upgrade for this season. New York certainly knows how to renew trends so check out the ones that were used the most below…

Animal Print

Leopard prints are always trend probably every season! But for New York Fashion Week it had an upgrade, maxi prints, coloured or neon animal prints… Wild prints went even wilder!

Pretty in Pink

Millennial pink is now a mainstream… Yet, hot pinks are quite the thing now according to New York Fashion Week. This bold colour was one of the trends that was used the most in Fall Winter 2018 collections.

Romance in the Air

Romantic cuts are not so New York, so we’ve been surprised to see this trend in the urban city. Flowing gowns, Victorian sleeves, ruffles and many more… Romance is in the air of New York!

As we already said for London Fashion Week, the fashion world is obsessing over the eighties at the moment. For the past couple seasons this throwback decade has influenced most of our current trends.

Matrix Vibes

Think the naughty nineties long leather jackets… Think skinny sunglasses... Think sleek hair… Yep! Matrix vibes was ruling the runways in New York!

Rainbow Fur

Black, grey or even brown fur is too boring for New York. The city of lights is adapting the colours of the rainbow into cute fur styles!

Duvet Fashion

Quilts are not only for your duvets, it is also for Fall Winter 2018 according to New York Fashion Week. Many designers adapted quilted designs into their collections for the next season so that you won’t ever miss your cozy bed.

Co-ord track suits were major in New York. Back to the Juicy Couture days! Thanks to New York Fashion Week next season is going to be super comfortable in terms of fashion.

Longer Skirts, Longer Boots

Ever matched your thigh high boots with your long skirt? If not, next season is your chance. We’re not baring our legs for Fall Winter 2018, instead we’re trying out a cool trend!

Thin Foil

Some of you may have used aluminium foil to design a dress in grade school. Well, if you’re one of those people, this trend will be a major ‘flashback’ for you! Foil like fabrics ruled the catwalks in New York.
