In 2015 Karlie Kloss, one of Victoria’s Secret’s angels, launched a program called Kode with Klossy. The model, known for her feminist engagement and love for coding, created this project of summer camps to empower young girls all over the US. Kode with Klossy is entirely free, it offers the chance for teenage girls to learn how to code, in order for them to know how to build apps. The camps are located in 25 different cities of the US, hosted each summer and they last two weeks. They are open to all girls living in the United States who are between 13 and 18 years old. Girls can even go two weeks in a row in order to perfect their skills. Kloss believes that it is really important to embrace young women interested in tech. To give them the opportunity to learn new skills is to give them the opportunity to break glass ceilings in the tech industry where women are under-represented. Already on its third year, the program counts more than 220 alumnus who are becoming the next generation of tech women. Karlie Kloss is once again proving she is not only a pretty face while allowing young girls to see a future in a male driven industry.
