The accessories who rocked the S/S2019 fashion shows

The real stars of this fashion month could not be found in the front rows, in street style pictures or in the flou ateliers of the biggest fashion houses. The ones who lighted up this September were seen at the fingertips, necks and wrists of the models strutting down the runways of the most powerful fashion cities. This season more than ever, accessories were key.

Jacquemus S/S2019

Bags

After designing the smallest bags ever, Simon Porte Jacquemus went on the other end of the spectrum and designed XXL bags inspired by his famous La Bomba hats. Jacquemus was not the only one with maxi bags: Loewe, Awake and Margiela also went for this trend. At Fendi, Lagerfeld chose the mix of belt bag and satchel with a multi-pocket accessory. Clear bags are not going anywhere appearing in hard structured cases at Balmain. Loewe kept up with the straw bags, bringing bohemian into the accessory department.

Finally at Dior monogrammed bags were very much still a thing.

Monse S/S2019

Necklaces

The oversized trend also transferred onto necklaces: at Monse, Oscar de la Renta and Escada, models were walking with maxi metallic chains on their necks. Anna Sui had maxi ones with shells and jewels. Chloé had geometric gold necklaces. Saint Laurent made a bang with sparkly snake shaped neck pieces.

Chloé S/S2019

Earrings

Shell earrings were definitely a thing this September, they appeared on the runways of Etro and Missoni. Oscar de la Renta went for a bright single tassel earring look. Zimmerman chose to juxtapose various delicate golden earrings on their models. New-York brand Cushnie had classic XXL thin golden hoops. Coach repurposed forks as ear decorations. At Chloé, earrings were long, flower-shaped and golden.

Saint Laurent S/S2019

Hairpieces

When it came to hair accessories Mary Katrantzou rocked the clear shower hats, while Simone Rocha went for headbands with pearls and clear jewels. Michael Kors had printed scarves as turbans. Boss had waterproof fisherman hats in burgundy, Phillip Lim followed the same guidelines with the same shape of hats but printed with colorful flowers. At Rodarte, the models’ hair were full of painted flowers matching the colors of their gowns. Tibi also had its take on head accessories with hairdressers clips adoring the long haired models. Saint Laurent stayed classic with black felt hats but took a less classic road with crown inspired headbands (just as Prada did).

Calvin Klein S/S2019

Glasses

Calvin Klein brought submarine vibes to NYFW with colorful futuristic goggles. Staud decided on accessorising its turtleshell sunglasses with golden glasses chains. Carolina Herrera stayed with the maxi squared 70s inspired sunglasses. Transparent red cat-eye glasses were on show at Sally Lapointe.
