Street style: the rise of a new kind of glamour

Glamour has taken a new meaning on the street of the big fashion cities all around the globe. Indeed, the results of a #girlboss suit trend and a rusty monochromatic minimalism gave birth to a new breed of women. Like accessories of old Milanese women («sciure»), these young ladies (aged between 20 and 35) are a mix of classic vintage pieces and trendy branded garments. For this style effortlessness is key, so no bold makeup look or bright colors, they must look like they don’t care enough about makeup to spend some time on it.

With a big focus on outerwear (especially at this time of the year), this trend has four types of key garments: the trench, the coat, the wool blazer and beige jacket. While the two first ones are usually worn in camel colors (for a classic and timeless look), the blazers are worn in colors such as light grey and beige. The suit or two pieces set is one of the main looks of this trend. Polished and grown up, these pieces are often worn in faded colors.

The vintage vibe mainly comes from the accessories. Shoes are pointy or squared, often with kitten heels, giving a slight «grandma» feel. The bags are small and structured, and re-editions such as the Dior Saddle bag or the Fendi Baguette are getting their fair share of exposure. The full outfits are often completed with artsy gold jewelry and sophisticated sunglasses.

But you may ask: what are the go-to brands to follow this trend? First of all, luxury wise you should consider investigating Celine (the remaining of Phoebe Philo’s designs mainly), Loewe, Jacquemus, Archivio and Burberry for timeless items. If you are more on a budget, we would strongly advise checking out re-selling websites such as Vestiaire Collective or Yoox. Otherwise, your best luck might just be your regular charity shops, which men’s sections are the best place to find nice oversized blazers.
