The next 3 December Dior Men will present in Miami its pre- fall collection 2020, two days before the inauguration of the international exhibition of contemporary art Art Basel Miami Beach that will be held from 5 to 8 December 2019.
Kim Jones, the visionary creative director of the Maison Homme commented on the choice of the United States for the fashion show by saying: “The United States was the first place after France where Christian Dior was successful. After all, it is a project that he made in the 1950s in the United States that served as a starting point for this pre-collection”.
An event that will therefore celebrate the past of the Maison and the proximity of the famous couturier Christian Dior to the American continent, visited by himself in a great tour in 1947 after a few months from his first fashion show.
It is also significant the deep connection between the latest Kim Jones’ collections and art, which link has been consolidated several times during the previous fashion shows organised together with the collaboration of different artists; just remember Daniel Arsham, American sculptor with whom he collaborated for the summer 2020 fashion show, or Japanese artist Hajime Sorayama with whom he worked for the first pre-fall show set in Tokyo.
Therefore, the concomitance with the international exhibition of contemporary art raises many curiosities to which surely answers will be given in the months to come.
