"Gucci Cruise 2020: Anthem to Freedom"

The Cruise Collection 2020 by Alessandro Michele for Gucci showed up at Musei Capitolini in Rome last Tuesday, 28th of May. It was deeply involved in cultural and political issues and it was, for this reason, full of messages. Like a book - the same Gucci decided to use as invitation for its guests - the show spreads over different levels of meaning, as much as it is really difficult to analyze all of them.

Alessandro Michele came back to his hometown for a private ransom, but also to borrow symbols from the ancient paganism then mixed with 70s style. The result is a collection which is an anthem to personal freedom. It is not by chance that a fine embroidered female reproduction system appears on different dresses, to stand against the recent reintroduction of anti-abortion law in the US.

The style is just unique as always. Many different materials are combined, together with bright colors, smart corduroy flares and irreverent t-shirt, silky party dress and cowboy hat.

A great confusion, still very appealing and not out of control. It simply is the visual transcription of the freedom of thinking, expressing and acting that Alessandro Michele wish to everyone of us.
