Annakiki’s SS20 collection is the dream of every 80s nostalgic. In fact, the concept that inspired this collection is this: a girl from the future travels back in time and ends up in the 80s, surrounded by gaudy colors and jackets with shoulder pads.
At the backstage of the show, designer Anna Yang stated that, instead of focusing on innovation, she decided to work with the contrast between very eighties silhouettes and futuristic elements.
The collection, in fact, includes bright colored cocktail dresses, but also power suits that pair structured jackets with silky pants.
Several solid color looks in vibrant colors were presented on the runway, but there were prints and some total black looks as well.
Moreover, some details are very interesting: for example, the usage of flounces for the sleeves of a jacket; flounces were also used as an element to give asymmetry to a dress structured like a blazer.
The inspiration surely comes from the style of icons of the eighties, such as Madonna and Prince. Lastly, many of the showcased looks give a nod to the classic "working girl” from the eighties.
