The Louis Vuitton Spring Summer 2020 closed the Paris Fashion Week in a futuristic light wooden box, located in the Place du Carousel, next to the Louvre Museum. Inside, a screening of Sophie - underground artist - accompanied the incoming audience on the notes of It’s Ok To Cry. The whole was, needless to say, of great impact.
Ghesquière was this time inspired by different eras and cultural currents for this collection, but they blend perfectly thanks to the aesthetic and stylistic code that never leaves the work of the designer, aimed at unbridled futurism.
We have, on the one hand, elements of the Parisian belle époque, a bright and modern period, made of hopes and beauty. Beauty that was the prerogative of a small circle of people, the dandies, which inspired the eccentricity of shapes and colors and the tailoring of some garments. All, as we have said, treated with the usual filter à la Ghesquière.
What the designer ultimately wants to recover from the belle époque is not so much the style but the spirit. Freedom, emancipation and, why not, also the light-heartedness that has defined a historical period so important for France and for the whole world.
