SIMONE ROCHA'S LOVE FOR ART AND AESTHETIC OF LOUISE BOURGEOIS GIVE
LIFE TO A NEW AMAZING JEWELLERY COLLABORATION
Two are the sculptures of Louise Bourgeois that most inspired Simone Rocha in creating to pairs of
Limited Edition earrings presented on May 1: Spiral Woman (2003) and Untitled (1995).
The designer clearly remembers the first time she was captured by “LB” artistic universe
and what she was moved by was the revolutionary use of fabrics - usually used only to create
garments -as pure form and essence.
“It’s something poetic” she states.
It is well known that Rocha was Louise Bourgeois “N.1 Fan”, but this time she created a real bond
between them.
“I really thought about how I could interpret her discipline into my discipline,” Rocha says of the
design process.”
The shapes of these precious accessories -Designed with 24-karat gold-plated sterling silver- mimic
those of French artist's suspended fabric sculptures.
For each style has only been produced an edition of 250 and will be available online at Hauser &
Wirth, in Simone Rocha stores, and starting May 16, at Dover Street Market.
The LB statement “I do not Owe the why to anybody. Anybody” on the notes for Rocha F/W 2019
collection was a sort of love letter for this amazing artist and to Rocha’s own instinctual aesthetic,
both of which are expression of strength and power generated by a feminine and delicate beauty.
-Louise Bourgeois has deepened in her artistic works themes such as sexuality, family and
loneliness- Rocha had the opportunity to collaborate, for the first time, with the Louise Bourgeois Foundation for 2019 F/W season’s embroidery and prints: a dream come true.
Because the art of Louise Bourgeois is focused mostly on women and their relationship with
themselves, Rocha felt that now - in the middle of #MeToo movement- it was the time to really
sharpen the connection with the French Artist.
Women who are inspired by women to communicate their aesthetic and beauty idea: a strong but
gentle femininity.
The limited edition Earrings Collection and the collaboration with L.B Foundation was the way in
which the designer was able to honor the woman who guided the most part of her creative
sensibility and aesthetic perception.
