Lourdes Leon has been a prominent fixture on the fashion radar with her distinctive, rebellious style. One of the early adopters of the 90’s flare and the easy, sport-like unpredicted ‘cool’, Lourdes is a yummy fruit for any street wear label.
Recently released Converse x MadeMe campaign shows off the 21-year-old in laid-back saturated photographs, strutting a midriff top and a bright yellow athletic track suit. Armpit hair intact, the shots are already making its round in the media. Whether another marketing stint or a genuine girl outcry for equality and empowerment - the images of the campaign are a perfect display of modern youth culture. Designed by Erin Magee, whom started the New-York based project bearing in mind that it will be “by girls, for girls”. Price for the pieces ranges from $30 to $100, available both at converse.com as well as Dover Street Market on May 24th.
Lourdes has partnered with MadeMe before (summer 2017), where she channeled an almost punk rock aesthetic. Photographed by Mayan Toledano, the campaign’s mood bears similarities to that of recent - sporty jackets and hoop earrings, attitude playfully shimmering in the backdrop of bedrooms and grocery shops.
This is not the first fashion collaboration for Lourdes, she has been the face of Stella McCartney’s fragrance POP among other emerging young women - actress Amanda Stenberg and animal activist Kenya Kinski Jones.
